Tablets and mini-tablets are deemed to be a pharmaceutical product only if they are sold as a medicine; pellets are deemed to be food

- Chia seeds
Hoodia chips, powder, tablets, mini-tablets and pellets are sold either in snap-lock sandwich bags, or in bottles. They are sold in units of 24 grams. Each tablet is VERY close to 400 mg. Each mini-tablet and pellet is very close to 200 mg, thus you can have about 120 mini-tablets or pellets in each bag or bottle.
Hoodia chips are the best selling form of hoodia for the Hoodia Farmers Co-Operative. The reason for it is the high incidence of adulteration of hoodia products with saw dust or milled cacti or other succulents in America and Europe. But once you see a picture of a hoodia plant and the chips, you know that the chips can’t come from anything else but a hoodia plant.
Low price makes the chips also attractive. People can make themselves a refreshing tea out of the chips, or grind it in a coffee grinder to sprinkle the powder on their cereals or sandwiches, or salads, or mix with yoghurt, or fruit juices. They can also fill their own capsules - small capsuling machines are available on Internet for about AU$25.00 each. A bag of 1000 empty capsules costs about $25.00. You can save a lot of money, doing it yourself.
Serving size:
The traditional users of fresh hoodia stems say that the customary size of the piece they take for each day of hunting is about twice the size of their thumb. The hoodia farmers did some experiments and found out that the servings would average about 10 grams each. Succulent plants are 80 - 90% water. Once the stems are dried, the serving size would be between one and 1.5 gram, or 1000 - 1,500 mg
In the west the most common form of hoodia is either a 400 mg tablet, or a 400 mg capsule. The most often suggested quantity is about three tablets or capsules. If you will buy powder, then use your kitchen set of measuring spoons - the smallest one - ¼ of a teaspoon is VERY close to 400 mg. (In one trial 50 x ¼ teaspoons weighed 20.4 grams)
If you will buy chips, then you will need Digital Jewelers Pocket Scales. You can buy them on ebay for less then $30.00 and they have accuracy of 0.01 gram. Otherwise you will be taking a lot more than just 1,200 mg a day - the chips are all different in sizes and shapes and their weight can be very hard to guestimate.
We also sell hoodia tablets in three different sizes:
- 12 mm (1/2”) diameter and the tablets weigh 400 mg each.
- 8 mm (1/3”) diameter mini-tablet weighing 200 mg each.
- 6 mm (1/4”) diameter mini-tablet (or a pellet), weighing 200 mg each..
The tablets are sold by weight - each unit (bottle or bag) has 24 grams of hoodia tablets in them. It means that in a bottle of 24 grams of tablets you should have very close to 60 x ½” tablets, or 120 mini-tablets. The reason for selling the pellets by weight is that the tabletting machine sometimes drifts out of calibration and the tablets could have a little more, or a little less then the weight stated on the label. If it has more, then we lose and the customer gains, but if it is the other way around and the tablets should be less then stated on the label, then the Department of weights and measures would be after us with all guns blazing. And our competitors would describe us as the worst cheats that ever walked under the sun.
Each mini-tablet and pellet is about half the size of a capsule or a tablet so it will be easy to ration your servings and consumption of the hoodia mini-tablet and pellets.
